Gmail for Android starts receiving this new redesigned interface, here’s what has changed – Times of India
9to5Google has reported that Gmail for Android has started receiving a small design change for the bottom ribbon labels. The Gmail app on Android is losing the ‘labels’ beneath the icons at the bottom ribbon.
Gmail app redesign: What’s new
If you can remember, the Gmail app currently has labels written beneath the icons like Mail, Chat, Spaces and Meet. According to the report, some users have a Gmail version without labels and it is now rolling out to more users across the globe.
Meanwhile, the removal of the labels made the bottom ribbon a little thinner. However, that does not mean you’ll be able to see more within the section or more emails on a single page.
We also checked for the same with our colleagues and we could see the new label-less design in our Gmail app on Android smartphones. Also, the change is a server-side update and it is available for us with Gmail for Android version 2022.08..07.x.
Also, it is not clear whether the new redesign is a part of the latest update or it will be available to users running the slightly older version of the Gmail app as well.
