The new widget for Gmail is rolling out via the latest app version 6.0.220918. The update brings a new unread messages widget for iOS lock screen that allows users to keep a track of all the unread messages in their email account’s inbox.
Gmail lock screen widgets
The new Gmail lock screen widget, as per the report, comes in three sizes — 1×1 circle, 2×1 rectangle and Top/single line widget. The 1×1 circular widget only shows unread email count and Gmail logo. The rectangular widget shows the unread count with breakdown and also iCloud Chats and Spaces. The single-line widget shows basic information in a single line right on the lock screen.
Google News lock screen widgets
Google News widget for lock screen is also available and it rolled out with the version 6.61 update. The update allows users to see top news and latest headphones on the lock screen. The only widget that’s available is 2 x1 size.
Both the updates are now rolling out and users can head to the App Store to install the latest version of Gmail and Google News on their Apple iPhone running iOS 16 update.
