Gmail has a new feature to help with online shopping deliveries’ – Times of India
To look for the order tracking details users have to — search for the confirmation email, find the tracking number and go through multiple links to see the delivery status. However, all this will change as Google is adding a new feature to its email service. The tech giant has updated its official blog post to announce that Gmail will get new features that will “help you save time and stay on top of all your shipments.”
How will it work
As per the blog post, Gmail will be able to track orders and show delivery information directly in your inbox. Orders that have tracking numbers, will show important details about the delivery even in the list view of your inbox. Users will be able to see the current delivery status and a summary card over individual emails in the list view itself.
Google will start testing this feature with most major US carriers and is later expected to expand the service to other markets. Gmail’s package tracking feature will offer important details like estimated arrival date and status. This feature will also create labels like — “Arriving tomorrow” or “Delivered today” that will offer information at a glance.
To receive package tracking updates in their inbox, users have to enable the feature in Gmail’s settings. Gmail will automatically search for order statuses using the tracking numbers and will show them in your inbox. Users can also disable this feature from the settings anytime they want.
In the coming days, Gmail will also show a delay label and bring the email containing the order details to the top of your inbox.
