Gmail receives Material You update, here’s what has changed – Times of India

Google has started rolling out Material You update to Gmail on the web. The new update brings certain changes in terms of design as well as brings one major change – the Gmail-only view – that Gmail users have been asking for since the search engine giant introduced the Gmail, Chat, Meet integrated view earlier this year.
New Gmail Material You redesign: What has changed
While the Material You redesign mostly plays with the visual appeal of the Gmail web, it does not bring any major change in terms of interface. The company has replaced the White background from before with a faint/light Blue colour. The left navigation menu now appears a little dark and the email page are now in Blue colour, while the unread emails still appear in White.
The Compose button has also seen a redesign, it now has a rectangular design instead of the pill shape from before.

New Gmail-only view
The Gmail-only view is Google’s way of bringing back the ‘classic’ design of Gmail. The feature, according to a report by 9to5Google, will be available for users and they can turn it On or Off manually. In terms of design, the only noticeable difference is that the left side panel where the latest UI features the Chats and Meet option is gone.
The new Material You web redesign and the Gmail-only view is now rolling out to Google Workspace Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Plus, Frontline and Nonprofit along with Google Workspace individual user.
