gmail: These Gmail users to get a redesigned Compose button – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Google is bringing back Gmail’s popular compose button following users’ feedback. The button was removed in April this year for users of Chat in Gmail on the web. Currently, a small red button at the right side of the ‘Mail’ dropdown menu provides access for writing a new email. The wider button will now appear above the ‘Mail’, however according to the image shared by the company, the button will not have a four-color ‘plus’ icon from the Material Theme design era.
“Earlier this year, we updated the “Compose” button to a smaller, icon-only button for all users of Chat in Gmail on the web. We’ve heard from you that the original, larger version of the button is more intuitive and will be going back to that option starting November 3, 2021. | Available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts.” said Google in a blog post.
The new Compose button has already started to appear to several users. The update comes as Gmail for web is set for a wider navigation overhaul. Apart from this, the company is also adding new navigation menus in Google Sites. Site editors can now organize page and external links under new navigation menus. Just select ‘New Menu’ and add or move pages to allow more flexibility in structuring navigation within your sites.
Recently, the tech giant brought visual updates and improvements for the To, Cc, and Bcc fields in the Compose section. The feature allows users to see a right-click menu to view the recipient’s full name along with their email address. They can also edit the contact names, copy addresses and open a recipient’s information card from the menu
Google has also added avatar chips for recipients and new indicators when adding a user outside your organisation and contacts. Gmail users have also got new visual indicators in case they have already added a user as a recipient..
