The official God of War Ragnarok story synopsis reads, “Fimbulwinter is well underway. Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for a prophesied battle that will end the world. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. The threat of Ragnarök grows ever closer. Kratos and Atreus must choose between their own safety and the safety of the realms.”
The publisher has also shared details about the stories of Kratos and Atreus. Atreus seeks knowledge to understand the prophecy of Loki, which will help him establish his role in Ragnarok. Meanwhile, Kratos has to decide whether he will be held back by the fear of repeating his past mistakes or break free to become the father that Atreus needs. It’s quite likely that God of War Ragnarok will feature multiple important events from the Norse mythology from the perspective of Kratos and Atreus.
Santa Monica Studio hasn’t offered an in-depth look at the gameplay of God of War Ragnarok yet. Sony is expected to feature God of War Ragnarok in a future State of Play or similar event, where fans could get a detailed look at the much-awaited game.
