Google announces Android 13 (Go Edition) for entry-level smartphones: features, availability
The Android 13 (Go Edition) adds Discover, which is a personalised panel with articles and other content, that can be accessed by swiping right from the home screen. It appears that Google is optimising its premium features for Go Edition so they can run smoothly.
Android 13 (Go Edition) features
Android 13 (Go Edition) is a follow-up to Android 12 (Go Edition) and brings some notable features to the table. The most important addition to this release is Google Play Software Updates. This ensures that customers receive crucial software updates outside of major Android releases. This will apparently streamline crucial updates without affecting device storage.
The update also adds ‘Material You’ to Android Go for the first time. This allows you to match your phone’s colour palette to your wallpaper. Four colour schemes appear when you set your background. Additionally, there are also features like Notification Permission, App Language Preferences, and much more.
Android 13 (Go Edition) Availability
The Android 13 (Go Edition) will be available in 2023. Google says that it added nearly 180 million Go users in the last twelve months. There are over 250 million monthly active devices powered by Android Go.
