Google Chrome is getting Android 12’s biggest feature – Times of India
The feature has been spotted by a user who shared it on Reddit. It is available in the latest Canary build (an experimental version) of Google Chrome. The browser automatically picks a colour scheme based on the wallpaper on the new window tab. The feature changes the colour scheme of the browser’s address bar and interface.
It is available on Google Chrome for Mac, Windows, and Linux, as well as Google’s own ChromeOS and Fuchsia operating systems. The development gains significance because this is the first time that it is available on non-Android platforms.
As mentioned, Android’s Material You debuted on Android 12 and was expanded in this year’s Android 13 update. Google has also rolled out Material You design themes to several of its Android apps.
Recently, Google released a few features for Chrome to help users quickly check and compare search results without having to jump between multiple search pages. The world’s most used browser has now got a new sidebar where it will list search results that will let users quickly access them without having to shuffle through multiple tabs.
The feature is similar to Microsoft Edge’s sidebar, which is essentially a powerful productivity tool owing to more functionality.
The web browser also got a built-in price tracking feature. Google says that the feature will send you emails whenever the price of the product you chose to track gets cheaper.
