Google Chrome may not get this screenshot editing feature: Report

Over a year ago, Google started developing a tool that allows users to edit screenshots directly on their desktop browser. The feature was first introduced in Chrome Canary version 98 and was expected to be released outside of its feature flag. Initially, Google wanted this tool to be accessible to all users. Now, after working on it for months, the tech giant is reportedly planning to remove the screenshot editing feature from its web browser. According to a report by AndroidPolice, some Chromium changes were made earlier this week, which suggest that the screenshot tool will disappear and won’t be available in its current form.
What gave away Google’s plan to remove the tool
As per the report, Google’s engineers have recently made a series of commits to the Chromium Gerrit. New updates to Chrome’s open-source code base are submitted on the Gerrit. The latest commits suggest that the screenshot editing feature has been entirely removed from the browser. The report even adds that it takes nearly 10 weeks for commits in Chromium to make their way to the stable version of Google Chrome.

Google Chrome incognito tabs fingerprint lock feature on Android
Recently, Google Chrome added a new security feature for Android users. Chrome users on Android will now be able to set fingerprint lock for the incognito tab. The fingerprint lock feature offers users an additional layer of security for their private tabs.
This feature helps users to prevent others from opening directly into their incognito tabs. Once this feature is enabled it will automatically lock the incognito tab(s), as users close or minimise the browser. Users will have to unlock incognito tabs on Google Chrome by authenticating with their biometrics once it’s locked.
Last month, Google also reportedly started working on another security option for the Chrome browser. This feature is designed to block insecure hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) downloads in Chrome.
