Google Chromecast 4K and Roku Express get Prime Day discounts
The Chromecast with Google TV (4K) has received a rare price cut thanks to one of the best Prime Day deals available today, but Roku could tempt you over with something even cheaper. The streaming dongle from the Android and Pixel makers is usually priced at £59.99, but for the Prime Day sale the price has been slashed to £35. That’s almost the same price as the recently released – and lower priced – Chromecast with Google TV (HD) model – and it’s the cheapest price the 4K streaming device has ever been listed on the Amazon UK website.
This dongle offers access to the slick Google TV interface and comes with a Google Assistant-powered remote.
If you find yourself scrolling endlessly struggling to find something to watch you can simply press the Google Assistant button on the Chromecast remote and use your voice to search via genre, actor and more.
You will also be able to use your Chromecast with Google TV to cast from thousands of compatible Android and iOS apps on your phone, laptop or tablet directly onto the big screen.
The dongle will also let you access your Google Photos library if you want to look through some cherished memories on your telly.
To get this rare Chromecast discount you’ll have to be a member of Amazon Prime, and you need to claim the deal before the end of today (Wednesday, October 12).
The latest Amazon Prime Day sales are ending after today, so you need to act quick if you want to grab the Chromecast at a great price.
If you’re not already with Amazon Prime you can simply sign-up to an Amazon Prime free trial to unlock the Chromecast discount and the many other deals running for Prime Day.
Alternatively, there are plenty of other offers running on streaming sticks for Prime Day which could tempt you away from the Chromecast to another device.
Roku’s popular range of streaming sticks have also received a big price cut for Prime Day.
The comparable Roku Express 4K is available for cheaper than both the Chromecast and Fire TV Stick that offer 4K streaming.
The Roku 4K streaming stick is usually priced at £39 but is available on Prime Day for £28.49.
While the cheapest Roku dongle – the Express HD – is available for £18.49 instead of the usual price of £29.99.
This is cheaper than Amazon’s comparable Fire TV Stick devices, which have also received price cuts for Prime Day.
The Fire TV Stick Lite which offers HD streaming is available for £19.99 (instead of its usual price of £29.99) while the Fire TV Stick 4K (which usually costs £49.99) is priced at £29.99.
These deals are a bit more than the comparable Roku offers. However, there is a way to get an extra £15 off Amazon devices during the Prime Day sales which lets you get the entry-level Fire TV Stick for under £5.
The Prime Day sale running right now is the second Prime Day event for 2022. It launched on Tuesday, October 11 and ends after Wednesday, October 12.
