With the latest update, the browser can now have rounded corners on menu items and other UI elements. However, the new design is not live by default and users have to enable it themselves. The option to enable the design is currently hidden under flags.
How to enable Windows 11 design elements on your Chrome
- Open a new tab on Chrome browser.
- Type chrome://flags/#win11-style-menus in address bar and press Enter key.
- Find Windows 11 Style Menus flag.
- Select Enabled from the drop-down menu next to the flag.
- Restart the browser.
The Google Chrome 96 also brings support for backward-forward cache for desktop version. With this feature, the browser will save some data from the frequently or recently visited website to make navigation through them faster. Apart from this, the browser also gets a new site-wise dark theme mode which allows users to enable dark theme for certain websites.
With the update, the company has also stopped the sync feature for Chrome users who are still using browser version M48 or earlier. For those who don’t know, the Chrome sync feature on the browser stores your passwords, bookmarks, search history, open tabs and preferred settings on the company’s server. This feature helps you to access all the stored information across various devices by using the same Google account. It also helps you to automatically sign in to Gmail, YouTube and other Google services.
