google: Google brings Pocket Gallery AR art museum to web – Times of India

Google Pocket Gallery was launched in 2018, but it was limited only to AR-capable smartphones to access and view artworks from the art museum. The company is not taking a step further and has brought the feature to the web.
What this means is that everyone who wants to access Google Pocket Gallery no longer requires an AR-enabled smartphone. The Pocket Gallery can now be accessed via the web on any device with or without AR support.
The feature was only accessible through AR-enabled smartphones and Google’s Art & Culture app. Also, users are required to find a flat surface like a tabletop or floor to explore the gallery.
Now, users just need to visit Google’s Art & Culture website to access the Pocket Gallery section. They can choose an exhibition and explore it right on the web browser. Users will also have the option to move the image using their mouse, scroll up and down or zoom in and out.
Some exhibitions will also feature an audio guide which will tell users about the highlights about the exhibitions.
Apart from that Google has also introduced a new exhibition to the collection in collaboration with Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais (Rmn-GP) in France. The exhibition includes a guided tour to maritime tales, stormy landscapes and shores swathed in light.
How to access Google Pocket Gallery on web
Visit ‘https://artsandculture.google.com/’ on Google Chrome
From the homepage, choose any exhibition you want to visit.
You can now scroll down to go through the guided tour.
