google: Google’s first foldable phone may launch soon, powered by Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 features

While Google is gearing up to unveil the Pixel 6 series, it is rumoured that the tech giant will also remove the wraps from the Pixel Fold later this year. The foldable smartphones market is mainly dominated by Samsung and with the launch of Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Flip 3, the tech giant has further sealed its spot. But things may change with Google entering the foldable smartphone space.
Most of the major smartphone brands are already eyeing the foldable smartphones and as per a leak report shared by Senior Director at Display Supply Chain Consultants, the Google Pixel Fold will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The upcoming foldable smartphone from Google is likely to come with a 120Hz refresh rate display like its competitors. The phone is expected to boast a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, 12MP ultra-wide lens and 48MP telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. It is also rumoured that Google’s under-screen camera will also debut along with the brand’s first foldable device.
Reports suggest that Google’s foldable smartphone will be powered by a Tensor chipset paired with 12GB of RAM. The phone is expected to get up to 512GB of internal storage.
Google officially has not yet revealed any information about the upcoming foldable device although the tech giant did confirm the testing of a foldable prototype. As per online reports, Google has struck a deal with Samsung to procure LTPO OLED panels for foldable smartphones. The reports also suggest that Pixel Fold will feature a 7.6-inch display with a resolution of 1768 x 2208 pixels.
It is expected that the tech giant will try to disrupt Samsung’s market share with competitive pricing for the upcoming foldable device.
