Google is forcing Android Auto update on users – Times of India

Google, earlier this year, announced that it would be removing support Android Auto support for Android devices running older versions of Android operating systems. As a part of the announcement, the company has confirmed that Android Auto will no longer support devices running older than Android 8.0.
Few users have reported that the company is forcing users to update Android Auto to the newer version. As per the report, the Android Auto interface now shows a popup asking users to update and it won’t go away unless the update is installed.
The update popup is appearing for devices that are running Android Auto versions 7.0 to version 7.7. While there’s no reason provided by the company behind forcing users to update. We assume that this is due to the upcoming Coolwalk update which is expected to arrive in the coming future. This step also indicates that Google is planning to soon release the expected update.
Meanwhile, the Coolwalk update is expected to bring a major redesign to the Android Auto user interface. One of the most noticeable changes includes the ability to adapt to different infotainment systems and screen sizes.
Apart from that, the Coolwalk update is also expected to bring multi-app screen features which means users will be able to see multiple information right on the home screen similar to what Apple CarPlay offers.
