Google Maps reportedly working on ‘dock to bottom’ feature, here’s how it works

Google Maps is one of the most popular navigation apps across the globe and continuously adds new features to retain that position. To take this forward, the company is reportedly planning to roll out a new feature that will allow users to dock locations and businesses to the bottom of the map page. According to a report by Search Engine Roundtable, users may be able to see a new blue coloured “dock to bottom” button that allows them to dock a location so that they quickly reopen it later.
As per the screenshot shared with the report, the feature placed the dock in the footer of the map interface. As of now, the feature has only been spotted by a few PC users and it is not yet clear whether the new button will arrive on tablets or smartphones. As of now, the tech giant has not revealed any details about the spotted feature.
Last month, the company announced new features for Google Maps to make getting around better and simpler during the holiday season. The tech giant announced a few new features through an official blog post. The company said that it is expanding the Directory tab to provide more detailed information about navigating around large buildings like a market, shopping malls, airports, transit stations, etc. The directory tab provides users with the information about a particular place like what type of stores are there in the mall, on what floor a particular shop, its rating, what floor it is on and more.
The company also announced Area Busyness feature that’s designed to help people spot the time when a nearby area or a particular part of town is at its busiest. The new feature also lets users check how busy a particular area or location is at different times of the day.
