Google may ‘borrow’ this feature from Apple for Android phones – Times of India

Google is reportedly said to be working on a feature that is similar to how Apple’s ‘Find My’ network works. With the Find My app you can locate Apple devices signed in with the same Apple ID and also helps keep track of AirTag. As per a report by XDA Developers, the new version 21.24.13 of Google Play Services app contains a couple of codes– “mdm_find_device_network_description” and “mdm_find_device_network_title”– that suggest Google may be working a new feature to keep track of Android devices.
The report said that the feature “allows your phone to help locate your and other people’s devices”. Google hasn’t revealed officially about the new feature yet and very little is known as to how it will be different from the existing Android Find My Device. Having said that, as per the description of the feature, it may be quite possible that Google may allow you to track other people’s devices. It would be interesting to see whether or not Google goes ahead with the launch of a device that is similar to Apple AirTag in the future.
Meanwhile, Google recently rolled out a range of features for Android phone users including Android Earthquake Alert System for more countries like Turkey, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
With this free system, people in affected areas can get alerts seconds before an earthquake hits, giving you advance notice in case you need to seek safety. The system developed by Google uses Android phones to create an earthquake detection network that will warn people if they are in a potentially affected area.
