Google may face another lawsuit over digital ad market dominance: Report
Google may face another lawsuit
According to a report by Bloomberg, the US Justice Department is planning to file a lawsuit against Google. The federal law enforcement department will reportedly allege the company for its dominance over the digital advertising market.
The lawsuit is expected to be filed in federal court by the end of this week, the report adds. However, the report has kept the sources unnamed as they requested to stay anonymous while discussing this confidential matter. As per the report, neither the Justice Department nor Google made any immediate response regarding this matter.
Google’s legal troubles in the US
The report claims that the US digital-ad market is worth $278.6 billion and Google is the biggest player in this sector. The company controls most of the technology that is used to buy, sell and serve online advertising. This lawsuit won’t be the first monopoly-related case that the Justice Department has brought against Google.
The alleged lawsuit will be the fifth major case in the US that will challenge Google’s business practices. Previously, state attorney generals have filed three separate suits against the company which violated the country’s antitrust laws. These lawsuits alleged that Google was dominating the markets for advertising technology, online search and apps on the Android mobile platform.
