Google Pay now available in Hinglish on Android and iOS

Last year, at the Google for India event, the company announced several new features for its payments app – Google Pay – especially for Indian users. One of the announced features was supporting the “Hinglish” language. After many months, Google Pay is finally available in the Hinglish language. As it suggests, Hinglish is a mixture of Hindi and English popularly used in India.

The latest update for Google Pay on Android and iOS adds the support for Hinglish language. In India, the app was previously available in just two languages, Hindi and English. But now, users can also select Hinglish instead of English or Hindi.

To use Google Pay in Hinglish, users first need to update Google Pay to the latest version. After which, you can go to the app settings and choose your preferred language.

How to change language in Google Pay

1.

To change the language, tap on the profile picture in the top right corner.

2.

Tap settings, then select Personal Info.

3.

Now tap Language to change the language.

4.

Now select Hinglish among the given options.

Google Pay in Hinglish shows hybrid translations of some commonly used terms. For example, the “Scan any QR code” will show up as “Koi bhi QR scan karein”, while “Show transaction history” reads “Transaction history dekhein”. Even the buttons get the Hinglish treatment; the “New payment” button will be shown as “Naya payment” upon selecting Hinglish.

Google Pay for Android and iOS supports nine Indian languages — Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu, including the newly introduced Hinglish language.
