The affordable follow-up to the Pixel 7 – the Pixel 7a – is rumoured to arrive sometime around April or May during the Google I/O. Following the tradition of appearing in the wild months before being official, a hands-on video of the Pixel 7a has made it to Facebook, giving a first look at the upcoming smartphone.
The hands-on video posted on a Vietnamese Facebook group shows a Google smartphone, alleged to be the Pixel 7a, from all corners. From the looks of it, the Pixel 7a would have the same design as the Pixel 7’s while sharing a few cues with the Pixel 6a.
Pixel 7a to look familiar as its predecessor
We see a dual camera setup housed inside the camera visor accompanied by a LED flash. If rumours are to be believed, the camera bar would have a metal finish, similar to the Pixel 7, rather than having a glass camera bar like the Pixel 6a.
It is on the front where you will see a resemblance to the Pixel 6a. The Pixel 7a in the video can be seen having thick bezels around the display and a punch hole cutout in the centre.
Pixel 7a may finally get a 90Hz display
However, the Pixel 7a might offer a big upgrade compared to its predecessor. The Pixel 6a has a 60Hz OLED panel but the Pixel 7a could give users a higher refresh rate of 90Hz, suggests a toggle in Settings.
That is all we learned from the hands-on video. Earlier rumours have suggested that the Pixel 7a would come with the Tensor G2 chip, and the dual rear camera would consist of a wide and an ultra-wide sensor. Also, the Pixel 7a could arrive with support for wireless charging capped at 5W.
