Google Pixel users in India, this is when your wait for 5G will end – Times of India
“We have been actively working with Indian carriers on the various requirements that go into provisioning 5G and look forward to rolling this out for Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 6a in Q1 2023,” said the company in a statement. This means that users of Google Pixel 6a, Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro smartphones can look forward to getting 5G connectivity in the first three months of 2023.
This is the second update from Google on the 5G update in India on Pixel phones. “[Google] Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 6a are 5G-capable devices. We are actively working with the Indian carriers to enable functionality at the earliest,” the company had said in a statement in October.
5G rollout in India this week
5G network rollout started in India in October, with PM Narendra Modi announcing the launch of 5G at the India Mobile Congress 2022 on October 2. Since then both Airtel and Reliance Jio have launched 5G services in almost 30-plus cities across the country. Both the telecom providers are currently offering 5G services to users on their existing plans.
In the latest update this week, Jio rolled out 5G services in 11 new cities. The names are Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Mysuru, Nashik, Aurangabad, Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur, Kharar and Dera Bassi.
This week, Airtel expanded its Airtel 5G Plus services at Jammu’s Raghunath Bazar, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat, Panjthirthi, Jammu Secretariat, Bahu Fort, Bahu Plaza, Jammu Railway Station, Government Medical College & Hospital and Canal Road.
