Google releases a new update for this app ahead of the Pixel 6a launch

Google is expected to expand its Pixel 6 lineup with the release of the Pixel 6a smartphone on July 28. According to a report by 9to5Google, the tech giant has now rolled out a new update for the Google camera app before launching the Pixel 6a handset. The 8.5 version of the Google Camera app doesn’t bring any significant design or functionality changes, but it includes some essential software upgrades required for the upcoming Pixel 6a smartphone, the report mentions. This new update combines the main camera hardware of the Pixel 6 series phones with the computing prowess of the Google Tensor chip that is expected to improve the camera quality of the Pixel 6a smartphone.
Google Camera app new update availability
As per the report, the Google Camera app version 8.5 is available on the Play Store. The report also mentions that the new version of the app has been rolled out widely across all currently-supported Pixel models, which even includes midrange devices like the Google Pixel 5a.
Importance of the Google Camera app
The report suggests that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have “marked a major upgrade to the camera hardware used on Google smartphones.” However, Google’s software is primarily responsible for the improved photography experience offered by the latest Pixel series.
