Google reportedly testing a ‘darker’ dark theme for Search – Times of India

Google offers you an option to choose a Light theme or Dark theme for Google Search. You can choose your preferred theme for Search on most browsers such as Chrome and Firefox. Search pages include the Google homepage, search results page, and Search settings. As of now, when you use a Dark theme on Search, Google gives a greyish tone instead of pitch black colour. The tech giant is now reportedly testing a completely black theme for Search on desktop.
As per a report by 9to5 Google, a few users have noticed that their Search pages have switched to #000000 (Black), instead of dark grey. Apart from this, the users have also reported that colours for links and previously visited pages have also been tweaked to look a bit bolder than regular. The report further mentions that Google homepage is unchanged and uses the light grey colour for many users in the A/B test. The quick settings panel refers to the new pitch black theme a ‘Dark theme’ only.
The report suggests that Google will likely keep the grey theme as an option when it rolls out the black theme as the grey theme is suitable for your eyes, especially when you are navigating to comparatively light web pages. Till now, the new theme colour is only visible to a few users in the past few days. Google has not yet revealed any detail about the change.
How to change Google Search theme on your PC
  1. Open any web browser on your PC.
  2. Visit google homepage – www.google.com
  3. Click on Settings in the bottom right corner of the page.
  4. Click on Dark theme.
