Google ‘silently’ adds this feature to Pixel 6 series smartphones – Times of India

Google introduced Adaptive Sound feature to its smartphones last year. The Google Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 were the first devices to receive the feature and now it has been spotted in the Pixel 6 series smartphones. It is worth noting that the company has started to add the feature silently to the devices now as it was not available with the devices out-of-the-box.
Till now, it was thought that the feature was introduced especially for Pixel 5 as it has an under-display speaker that vibrates the screen to generate audio which makes it a bit quiet compared to other devices in that segment.
What is Adaptive Sound feature
The Adaptive Sound feature uses the microphone on the device to study audio levels and acoustics in the surrounding. It then adjusts the equalizer accordingly to provide better audio output. The feature is disable by default and it can be enabled by going into the Adaptive Sound section under Settings.
Launched last month, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are powered by Google Tensor, Google’s first-ever processor. Google claims that Tensor has been designed specifically around Google’s AI. Google Tensor SoC brings new capabilities to the two smartphones such as Magic Eraser and Quick Phrases. The Pixel 6 comes with 8GB of RAM, while Pixel 6 Pro has 12GB. The storage options in Pixel 6 are 128 and 256GB, Pixel 6 Pro also offers a 512GB model. The two phones come with Android 12 out of the box.
In terms of camera, there’s a 50MP primary lens in both Pixel 6 smartphones. The Pixel 6 has a dual camera set-up at the back, while its triple in Pixel 6 Pro. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie shooter in Pixel 6 and 11MP in Pixel 6 Pro.
As of now, smartphones are only available in eight countries – Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, United Kingdom and the United States.
