Google TV app’s new features announced: What are they – Times of India

Google has announced multiple new features for different products and services. The Google TV app was also one of these services to receive new tools from the tech giant. The company has not only added a redesigned remote for Android TV OS devices but has also added a new ability that will allow users to cast TV shows and movies from multiple streaming services from a single device. These new abilities will be available for Google TV app users “starting early next week”. Moreover, the app will also include a few changes related to its interaction with Android TV and Google TV devices.
Google TV to get new features: More details
As mentioned above, Google TV app users will soon be able to cast content from multiple streaming services directly within the app. The company announced this functionality earlier this year. However, Google didn’t mention the streaming services that will support this ability.
Google has also noted that users will be able to cast content directly from the Google TV app to compatible TVs with a single tap. Moreover, users can also keep browsing other options and use their device as a remote control even while watching content.

Google TV app remote gets a new design
Apart from the multi-service casting ability, the Google TV app will also get a slightly redesigned TV remote. Currently, the TV remote opens up as a separate page, but the new UI will add a collapsible panel that can minimise into a bottom bar. This bottom bar will show what content is playing and the TV to which your device is connected.
These new changes are expected to improve Google TV’s experience on the big screen. The new features in the app will not only allow users to search for content by name and see recommendations but will also let them jump to different content without opening up the service’s app.
