Google Wallet arrives on the latest Fitbit watches: Availability and other details
Google Wallet on Fitbit smartwatches: Availability
Fitbit announced Google Wallet integration with its smartwatches a few months back. Initially, Google’s contactless payment app will work on two Fitbit smartwatches — Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4 smartwatches. These watches will also include the Google Wallet app alongside Fitbit Pay and users can choose between these two NFC options while making payments at stores.
Google Wallet on Fitbit smartwatches: How it works
Google Wallet on Fitbit smartwatches will work like any other tap-and-pay service. Users can access the new app in places that accept Google Pay or contactless payments. Fitbit will also allow users to add their credit and debit cards to their smartwatches from the Google Wallet section available in the companion app on their phones.
Fitbit has also added an extra security layer for the payments app on its smartwatches. Users will have to set up a PIN to unlock their Fitbit watches.
Google Maps on Fitbit smartwatches
Google Maps is also expected to arrive soon for Fitbit smartwatches. However, the WearOS app won’t be similar to the original smartwatch app. Google Maps on Fitbit watches will show users turn-by-turn navigations directly on their wrists, but the watch version of the app will pull data from your connected smartphone.
Fitbit users will be able to see directions on their smartwatches only after setting their destination and beginning navigation on their connected phones. Google Maps on Fitbit smartwatches may not offer the whole experience but this feature can be helpful for users in various scenarios.
