Google’s first foldable phone may launch in 2022
Google may launch its first Pixel foldable phone in 2022, 9to5Google reports. The upcoming phone is said to be codenamed ‘Pipit’ and may come with the same camera sensor as the Pixel 5 series. The handset, as per the report, will not use the Samsung GN1 sensor in the Pixel 6 series. Instead, it may feature a 12MP IMX386 sensor. The camera could be used for an ultra-wide sensor and is said to be used when the phone is closed.
Other sensors that are rumoured to come with the foldable Pixel phone are dual 8MP IMX355 sensor- one will be tagged as ‘inner’, the other as ‘outer’. In the past, Pixel phones have used the IMX355 sensor for the selfie camera. It is believed that these two cameras will ensure that the foldable pixel phone will be able to capture the same quality selfie photos when folded or unfolded.
It is yet not known whether the new Pixel foldable phone will sport an under-display camera sensor like on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or a hole punch style like on the present Pixel phones.
