Google’s preview program will give early access to new Home app features
TL;DR
- An APK teardown has revealed a preview program for the Google Home app.
- The preview program will allow users to download beta versions of Google Home from the Play Store.
- It’s possible that only a limited number of people will be able to sign up for the preview program.
It’s no secret that Google has beta tester programs that allow Android users to test out new features before they are released. However, these early access programs have always skipped over the Google Home app. But it looks like that could be changing in the near future.
In a recent APK teardown of the latest version of the Google Home app, 9To5Google has discovered a public preview program for said app.
Before going any further, it’s important to point out that an APK teardown shows features that are in progress. These are hints at what may come in the future. There is no guarantee that Google will release any of the features found in the teardown when the next update hits.
According to the folks over at 9To5Google, they have found evidence that suggests Google is getting ready to roll out a preview of Google Home on Android. This will allow brave users to try out early versions of new features and report any issues they may find. The participants will also be able to revert the app back to the regular version at any time.

Apparently, a sign-up page already exists that you can access on your Android phone by following this link. It will allow you to request an invite when the program is available.
If you choose to sign up, just remember that beta programs aren’t for the light of heart. You should go in knowing that there’s a possibility that these new features could be buggy and cause issues with the app.
