Here’s how Apple iPhone 14 Pro with pill-shaped camera cutout may look like

Apple is reportedly planning to ditch the notch for a pill-shaped camera cutout in the Pro models of iPhone 14 series. Just like last two years, the upcoming iPhone lineup is rumoured to have four models – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. As per leaker Dylandkt, the company is planning to use a pill-shaped camera cutout at the top of the display of iPhone 14 Pro models. Based on the leaks and rumours, developer Jeff Grossman has shared a mockup on Twitter suggesting how the iPhone 14 Pro may look like.

In the image, the pill-shaped cutout on the device is centered slightly below the top rather than being continues with the bezel. The mockup suggests that the new cutout will offer more screen real estate on either side. The company reduced the size of the notch in the iPhone 13 series but the space that was free couldn’t be utilised. It appears that with the cutout, Apple will be able to incorporate more icons in the status bar.

Till now, the Pro models in the iPhone 14 lineup were rumoured to have punch-hole cutout. This is the first time we have seen speculations around pill-shaped cutout on upcoming iPhones. Apart from this, the leaker also suggests that the company may also move the Face ID under the display. Similar detail about the Face ID was previously shared by industry consultant Ross Young.

Although Apple is not known to reveal the plans related to upcoming devices, its suppliers often hint at what users can expect. As per previous reports the smartphones will feature triple rear camera setup with a 48MP wide lens, 12MP ultra wide and telephoto lenses.

Analyst Jeff Pu in a research note with Haitong International Securities predicts that the Apple iPhone 14 Pro models will feature 8GB of RAM. For context, the iPhone 13 Pro models are equipped with 6GB of RAM. Although the iPhone 13 series devices are available with a base storage option of 128GB, the analyst believes that the iPhone 14 series devices will have a base storage capacity of 64GB.
