Here’s how much of your data is collected by Google, Apple, Amazon and others – Times of India

A new report by StockApps analysis has said that out of the five major digital companies, four of which are the Big Tech firms, Apple collects the least amount of user data. According to the report, Google harvests the most of the user data, followed by Twitter, Amazon, Facebook and Apple, in descending order.
As per the report, the reason for Apple having the least data on users is that it stores just the information necessary to maintain the users’ accounts as it does not rely on ad revenue like Google, Twitter and Facebook.
The report claims to have found that Google collects 39 data points (39 types of data) for each user while Apple only collects 12. Facebook was found to collect only two points more than Apple.
In the case of Twitter and Facebook, the report said that these social media platforms store more information on their users than they need to; in fact Facebook’s user data pool has reportedly expanded because of the users’ entering information from their side.
According to the report, “each of these data firms focuses on a particular category of data and not the quantity of data. Google collects more different types of information for individual users. The firm relies on this data for targeted advertising rather than relying on third-party trackers.”
The data collected by Google includes “anything from users’ specific location to your browser history. Moreover, it stores user activity on third-party websites or apps and the emails on users’ Gmail accounts.”, said the report.
