Here’s what Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has to say on AI computing – Times of India
After Microsoft posted its quarterly results, Nadella said in a conference call with analysts that the company is going to lead in the AI era. The top executive noted that “the age of AI is upon us and Microsoft is powering it.”
“We have the most powerful AI supercomputing infrastructure in the cloud. It’s being used by customers and partners like OpenAI to train state-of-the-art models and services, including ChatGPT,” said Nadella.
ChatGPT support on Microsoft Azure
Earlier this month, Microsoft said it will integrate ChatGPT into Azure services and announced that it is making Azure OpenAI Service available to businesses. This will allow businesses to access advanced AI models, such as GPT-3.5 and DALL-E 2, to create cutting-edge applications.
“We will soon add support for ChatGPT, enabling customers to use it in their own applications for the first time. We announced the completion of the next phase of our agreement with OpenAI,” Nadella added.
Microsoft’s new investment in ChatGPT
ChatGPT has gained much popularity and last week Microsoft made a new investment making it OpenAI exclusive cloud service provider.
“We are witnessing nonlinear improvements in capability of foundation models, which we are making available as platforms,” he added.
Without revealing the amount, Microsoft announced the third phase of its “long-term partnership with OpenAI through a multiyear, multibillion-dollar investment to accelerate AI breakthroughs to ensure these benefits are broadly shared with the world.”
The company earlier made investments between 2019 and 2021. The tech giant infused $1 billion in OpenAI in 2019, and reports suggest that the latest deal is worth up to $10 billion.
