Here’s when Qualcomm’s next powerful chip for 2023’s high-end Android smartphones is coming

It has been only a month since we got a new top-tier Snapdragon chipset – the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 – and we are yet to see it inside a smartphone, but Qualcomm’s next top-of-the-line chipset has already made it to the news. We are talking about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 if Qualcomm does not jumble around with the naming convention again, which might come sooner than you think.
So, Qualcomm put up the schedule for this year’s Snapdragon Summit on its official website. However, the company later deleted the event from its event page. According to the website, the event is scheduled for November 14-17, two weeks before the usual schedule. In case you missed it, Snapdragon Summit is where the company usually announces new chipsets, including the flagship ones.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered smartphones could launch as early as this year
Thus, we expect Qualcomm to announce the next-gen Snapdragon 8 series chipset at the upcoming Snapdragon Summit from November 14 to November 17. If we go by previous trends, then we can expect smartphone manufacturers to release Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered smartphones later this year instead of launching them in the first quarter of 2023.
The details about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 are scarce as of now. But rumours suggest that it would have an unusual 1+2+2+3 CPU configuration having a prime Cortex-X3 core. We should learn more about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset as Qualcomm readies for its annual event in Hawaii.
