Honor announces the release date of its first foldable phone, the Magic V

Honor has confirmed the release date of its upcoming foldable phone, the Honor Magic V. The company would launch the foldable phone on January 10, 11.30 AM UTC (4.30 PM IST) in China. The company would live stream the launch event. The Magic V would be the Chinese brand’s first foldable phone.

Having a similar design language as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Honor Magic V will fold horizontally like a book. The cover display has been given a punch-hole selfie camera while the primary rear camera setup consists of three sensors. A dual-LED Flash will accompany the camera setup. The phone is rumoured to come with a 108MP camera with 9:1 pixel binning, an ultrawide camera sensor and a telephoto lens. On the front, the phone is expected to come with a 16MP selfie shooter.

The Honor Magic V will arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm’s most powerful Android chipset yet, thus making it the company’s first flagship device of 2022. Also, as per rumours, the foldable device could ship with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

If leaks are to be believed, the Honor Magic V could feature a 6.5-inch screen on the top when in a folded state. When unfolded, the device could have an 8-inch display, like a mini tablet screen, with a resolution of 2200 x 2480 pixels. As for the battery, the phone is expected to have a 4,500mAh battery under the hood and a 65W fast charging support is also expected.
