honor: Honor promises firmware updates for all phones released before April 1, 2021 – Times of India

All Honor smartphones launched before April, 2021 will be eligible for firmware updates throughout the rest of their life cycles. Honor Finland has confirmed to i>SuomiMobiili.
These will include all phones launched before April 1, 2021, even the new Honor 50 series. The date is important considering Honor exited Huawei between March and April this year.
To recall, Huawei announced to sell off its Honor smartphone business in November last year. This enabled Honor to become independent of Huawei and thus escape the sanctions imposed by the US on Huawei.
Additionally, Honor will continue supporting high-end Honor devices with monthly updates. These include Honor 20, 20 Pro, and View 20. While the affordable devices will be updated quarterly. The list includes- Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro +, Honor 30i, Honor 30S, Honor View 30 Pro, Honor 20e, Honor 20i, Honor 20S, Honor 20 Lite, Honor 10i, Honor 9A, Honor 9C, Honor 9S, Honor 10X, Honor 9X lite, Honor 10X lite, Honor 9X Pro, Honor 8A, Honor 8S and Honor 8A Pro.
While Honor promises regular firmware updates for these devices, this does not necessarily mean that they will get full Android version upgrades. But, they will at least be updated with security patches.
The company also promises to continue support for its older devices in Finland before handing them to Huawei. “If a consumer is in touch with us, we always help [them] as far as we can before directing [them] to Huawei customer service. We continue to help with matters related to the use of smartphones[…] The intention is to serve both old and new HONOR consumers as well as possible”, says Suvi Surenkin, Honor Marketing Director for Finland and The Baltics. It is not clear whether Honor users in other countries will also be eligible for the said support.
