Honor’s latest low-cost earbuds tout strong battery life

TL;DR

  • Honor has unveiled the Earbuds 2 Lite.
  • The true wireless earbuds last up to 10 hours by themselves, and 32 hours with the case.
  • They’ll be available in Europe on August 7 for €69.90.

Honor wireless earbuds have had trouble standing out in a crowded field, but that might change with its latest outing. The former Huawei brand has unveiled the Earbuds 2 Lite with longevity and other features that could warrant a closer look.

The 2 Lite’s 55mAh battery promises an unusually lengthy 10 hours of listening from the buds alone. For context, even Sony’s high-end WF-1000XM4 buds ‘only’ manage a claimed eight hours. Whether or not the Honor earbuds live up to that figure, you’ll have some insurance from a charging case that promises up to 32 total hours of music, or 20 hours of phone calls. A 10-minute charge gives you up to a 40% charge.

You’ll also find active noise cancelling, still uncommon at this price, including an “Awareness Mode” (think Transparency on AirPods Pro) that lets in outside sounds. The two-microphone array isn’t the most sophisticated, although Honor claims that neural network AI and “Dual Anti-Wind” tech will improve call quality in noisy situations.

Honor boasts “authentic and balanced” sound from the Earbuds 2 Lite’s 10mm drivers. We’d reserve judgment at this stage, though, given the entry-level design.

The price is right, at least. Honor will release the Earbuds 2 Lite in the UK, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain at a price of €69.90 (about $83). That’s a good price for any ANC-equipped earbuds, let alone models that will theoretically last more than an entire workday. It’s just a question of whether or not the quality matches Honor’s lofty marketing claims.
