Hotmail founder Sabeer Bhatia is back with this app – Times of India
Sabeer Bhatia, the co-founder of Hotmail, is back with a new social video messaging app. Called ShowReel, the app is aimed at enabling employment and upskilling opportunities for job seekers around the world.
How does ShowReel work?
With ShowReel, job seekers will be able to create professional videos of themselves in response to questions posed by mentors or hiring companies. The app then stitches these responses together to create a professional ShowReel. Emulating real-life scenarios, these questions will help people looking for guidance across professional, personal, leadership, and entrepreneurial growth an opportunity to prepare and self-improve.
The app plans to have partner companies on board to solve hiring challenges. ShowReel will make professional-looking videos that will enable job seekers to market themselves and land their dream jobs. Available on Play Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android), Showreel is onboarding some of the top recruiters, according to a press release.
Bhatia calls it pursuit driven tech. “This pursuit started with connecting millions of people across borders with Hotmail and today found its realisation with ShowReel,” he said.
Back in the 90s, Bhatia was the poster boy of technology when he started Hotmail in 1996. Microsoft then paid around $400 million to acquire Hotmail. Speaking more on his latest venture, Bhatia said that ShowReel aims to bring conversations alive and drive real value for job seekers and companies alike. “Imagine having the best resources at your disposal and access to the best companies to find the best-suited job and at the other end the opportunity to simplify your hiring process with video resumes,” he said.
He further said that ShowReel will leverage AI to analyse collected data and drive actionable insights for the audience. “As we grow, we will empower people with conversations and opportunities that go beyond employment and upskilling,” added Bhatia.
