House of the Dragon season 2 release timeline hinted

House of the Dragon Season 2 is in the works, but we might not see it for another 12-15 months at least. As per a new report, a top executive at HBO has confirmed that 2024 is when the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel could premiere online, sharing timelines that could be interesting for fans. Let’s get into the details.

House of the Dragon Season 2 release date

House Of The Dragon

In an interview with Variety, HBO Max Content CEO Casey Bloy almost confirmed the House of the Dragon Season 2 release window by saying that it would be a “good guess” to say that 2024 is when the show comes out. He further added that although 2024 is when Season 2 is out, it won’t be eligible for next year’s Emmys.

Using the information available, which suggests the eligibility window of 2024 Emmys will close on May 31st, 2024, the show isn’t coming out until at least June 2024. So, with a minimum of 15 months to go, House of the Dragon fans need to wait until Summer next year to get a chance to see what their favourite characters are up to.

The reason behind this gap between two seasons, according to HBO’s Bloy, is that a good script is the topmost priority for the team at the entertainment house. “I am not doing it based on wanting to have one a year, two a year. I want to do it based on the scripts that we’re excited about,” he told Variety.
