Paytm has added a new way to make payments using the app. Dubbed as Tap to Pay, the feature relies on NFC and allows users to make contactless payments by simply tapping the smartphone at the PoS (Point of Sale) machines.
The feature works similar to Samsung Pay, where users can add their bank cards in the Paytm app and make payments at retail shops, grocery stores, restaurants, etc that accept card payments.
Also, the Tap to Pay feature works with and without an internet connection. This means the feature can come in handy even at places with rocky internet connectivity.
Want to try this new payment mode on Paytm, here are the steps you need to follow:
Pre-requisites:
Update the Paytm app to the latest version
An active bank debit/credit card
How to set up the Tap to Pay feature on Paytm
Open the Paytm app on your smartphone
Scroll down and tap on Tap to Pay option under My Paytm section
Now, tap on Add New Card button at the bottom and enter card details
You can also choose an already saved card at this stage.
Accept the terms and conditions and tap on Proceed to Verify Card button
To make the payment using the Tap to Pay, unlock your smartphone and enable NFC. Now, simply bring your smartphone near the NFC-enabled PoS machine and keep it stable until the payment is made.
Also, for transactions above Rs 5,000, you’ll need to enter a card PIN on the PoS machine.
