This first method requires you to first have a URL address for the GIF you wish to insert. You see, if you simply right-click the GIF image on Google, copy it, and then paste it into Google Slides, all you will see is a still image of the GIF.

Go to Google and find your desired GIF. Right-click it and, from the subsequent dropdown menu, click Copy image address.

Head back to Google Drive and open your Google Slides presentation. Click Insert, then hover your cursor over Image. From the extended menu, click By URL.

How to add a GIF from your computer

Another way to add a GIF to your slide is to simply upload it directly to the presentation from your computer. GIFs are accepted in their native image file type, so this is a very easy process.

Open your Google Slides presentation and click the Insert tab in the toolbar at the top. Hover your cursor over Image, then, from the extended menu, click Upload from computer.

Locate the GIF on your computer, then select it. On most desktop PCs, the File Explorer will open and you will need to double-click the file to add it to your slide.

In order to use this method, you must have already uploaded your desired GIF to Google Drive. If you’ve done this, you can add it directly from there to your slide.

From your Google Slides presentation, click Insert and hover your cursor over Image. From the extended menu, click Drive.
