How to change address in Voter ID

Voter ID card carries information about the voter including the address and citizen’s enrolled constituency. An eligible voter is only allowed to cast a vote from his/her registered constituency.

So, if you’ve recently moved to a new city and want to register yourself as a voter there and cast a vote, then you’ll need to update your Voter ID card with the new address and also ensure that your name has been added to the electoral roll.

To do this, you will need to submit an online request using the National Voter Service Portal. Wondering how? Follow our step-by-step guide:

1.

Visit https://www.nvsp.in/ using any web browser and log in

If you don’t have an account, click on the Register Now button at the bottom of the login screen.

2.

Once logged in, click on the option ‘Migration to another place’ to change the address on your Voter ID card.

Then, choose whether you want to make the changes for your Voter ID or family.

3.

To change address in your Voter ID card, choose the option ‘Self’, else choose Family.

4.

Now, choose whether you are moving within your constituency or outside your constituency

5.

A Form 6 application will open on the next screen

Here you’ll need to enter details such as your current state, address, constituency and more. Along with that, you’ll be asked to enter your personal information, Postal address, Permanent address, etc.

6.

Once everything is filled up, upload your photo along with your address and age proof.

Fill up the self-declaration at the end of Form 6, enter Captcha and Submit the request

After submitting the request, you will receive confirmation and once the changes have been made, a new Voter ID card will be delivered to your current address.
