How To Change Sbi Account Registered Mobile Number online or via ATM
Most of the banks these days, allow you to register your mobile number for online transactions and services. The same is the case with the State Bank of India. If you have an SBI Account, there is a chance that you have registered your mobile number (RMN) for online transactions and updates. One minor issue that some people face is when you have to change your Mobile Number linked to your SBI Account. The process for the same is very simple.
There are various ways of doing so. One is by visiting the OnlineSBI portal and the second one is by visiting the SBI ATM near you. Both these methods are effective and can be executed in a few simple steps. Once your RMN gets updated, you will continue to get regular updates and be able to perform transactions you want to as long as you have SMS banking enabled.
Let us look at both the Methods for changing the RMN in a few steps.
Method 1- Changing Registered Mobile Number of SBI Account using OnlineSBI Portal
To use this method, make sure you have a valid username and password for SBI internet banking. If you don’t have one, please visit your nearby SBI branch and get yourself registered. Once you have a valid username and password, follow the given steps.
Step 1- Login to the Onlinesbi portal by entering a valid username and password.
Step 2- Go to Profile and then click on the Personal Details section.
Step 3- Enter Profile Password, then you will see Display Name, Email ID and Mobile number registered.
Step 4- Click on the link that says, “Change Mobile Number-Domestic Only (Through OTP/ATM)”.
Step 5- A new screen opens, wherein you will get a prompt to enter the new mobile number you want to register twice. Enter the new mobile number and click on submit button.
Step 6- You will get a pop-up message saying, “Verify and Confirm your mobile number XXXXXXXXXX”.
Step 7- Click on OK and proceed.
Step 8- A new screen will open up that has 3 different models for approval of change of mobile number displayed-
a) By OTP on both the Mobile Numbers, and
b) IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM

Depending on your choice between (a) or (b), follow the given steps.
a) Changing Registered Mobile Number of SBI Account through OTP on Both Mobile Numbers
Step 1- Click on the circular button that has the option, “By OTP on both mobile numbers” and then click on “Proceed”.
Step 2- Select the account by clicking the button, for which you have the debit card, and then click on “Proceed”.
Step 3- You will be directed to SBI’s ATM Card Validation screen where you will see active and closed ATM cards associated with the selected bank account. Click on active ATM Card and select “Confirm”.
Step 4- The selected ATM card number will be displayed. Enter the card details like Expiry date, Card Holder’s Name, PIN, and enter the text as shown in the image, then click on the “Proceed” button.
Step 5- On successful validation, the system will send SMS from both new and old mobile numbers in the following format:
ACTIVATE<8-digit OTP value><13-digit reference number>to 567676 within 4 hours. For example- ACTIVATE 12345678 UM 12051500123.
Once the SMS validation is successful, the new mobile number will be copied in Internet Banking, Core Banking Solution, and ATM. A message of successful change will also be displayed on your mobile number.
b) Changing Registered Mobile Number of SBI Account through IRATA
Step 1- Click on the circular button with the option ‘IRATA’ (Internet Banking Request Approval Through ATM) and click on “Proceed”.
Step 2- Select the account by clicking the button for which you have the debit card and then click on “Proceed”.
Step 3- You will be directed to SBI’S ATM Card validation screen wherein you will see active and closed ATM cards associated with the selected bank account.
Step 4-Click on the active ATM card and select “Confirm”.
Step 5- The selected ATM card number will be displayed.
Step 6- Enter the card details like Expiry date, Card Holder’s Name, PIN, and enter the text as shown in the image, then click on the “Proceed” button.
Step 7- On successful validation, the following message will be displayed on the screen- Thanks for registering your mobile number with us. Kindly complete the registration process according to the option selected by you. Click here to see the guidelines for process completion.
Step 8- You will get an SMS saying “Reference NO. for Change/Update mobile number is: UMXXXXXXXXXXX and your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXXX, will be sent by the system on your new mobile number.
Step 9- After you get the message in the previous step, you will have to visit any State Bank Group ATM, swipe your card, select the “Services” tab and enter your PIN.
Step 10- Click on the “Others” tab on the ATM screen and choose the “Internet Banking Request Approval” option and enter the 10-digit reference number for approval of the request.
Step 11- On successful completion of the process, the request will be fulfilled.
Step 12- Once the validation is done, the new mobile number will be updated in Internet Banking, Core Banking Solution, and ATM and you will also get SMS on your mobile number.
HOW TO CHECK STATUS FOR UPDATION/CHANGE OF MOBILE NUMBER ONLINE
After you have completed either of the above-given processes, you can also keep a check on the status of your mobile number change online. Just follow the given steps-
Step 1- Login to the OnlineSBI portal.
Step 2- Go to “Profile”> click on “Personal Details” where you will see the Display Name, Email ID, and the mobile number registered.
Step 3- Click on “Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (through ATM/OTP).
Step 4- A new window “Personal Details-Mobile Number Update” with 3 tabs “Create Request”, “Cancel Request” and “Status” will appear.
Step 5- Click on the “Status” to check the current status of your request to change your mobile number.
Step 6- In case you wish to cancel the request, you can click on the tab “Cancel Request” and click on request.
Step 7- You will get a message on the screen saying “Your reference number UMXXXXXXXXXX is successfully canceled” will be displayed on the screen.

METHOD 2- Changing the Registered Mobile Number of SBI Account using nearby ATM
You can also change your RMN by visiting any nearby SBI ATM. Just follow these simple steps-
Step 1- Go to the nearest SBI ATM and insert your debit card.
Step 2- Select “Registration” and enter your ATM PIN.
Step 3- Select the “Update your mobile number” option.
Step 4- Enter your old mobile number and confirm it.
Step 5- Enter your new mobile number and confirm it.
Step 6- You will get an OTP on both numbers.
Step 7- Once you will get the OTP, you can send SMS from the new number to 567676.
Step 8- Once the validation is done, the details will be updated in the bank servers.
