How to check battery health status on Android devices
Apple devices, especially iPhones and iPads have been providing users the ability to check battery health status. The feature tells them to check whether it’s time to replace the battery of their device.
Unfortunately, Android never had anything like this and even Android 12 misses out a feature as important as battery health status. But, that does not mean that it is impossible to check the battery health of an Android device.
There are several options available. For starters, some smartphone manufacturers offer built-in features on their devices just like Apple. While some offer separate first party apps to run a complete diagnostic of the smartphone. Apart from that there are several third-party apps available as well.
Wondering how to go about it? Read on:
Samsung smartphones
Samsung offers a Diagnostic option under the Settings menu that allows users to run a complete diagnostic of their smartphone that includes battery, network, Wi-Fi, camera, etc.
To access the Diagnostics option, head to Settings -> Battery and Device Care -> Diagnostics.
Here you can either run a complete diagnostic or tap on Battery option to check its health.
OnePlus smartphones
OnePlius smartphones do not come with any built-in feature to check battery health. However, the company’s OnePlus Care app allows users to run a complete diagnostic including battery.
For this, download the OnePlus Care app from Google Play Store and login using your phone number. Once on the home screen of the app, tap on Diagnose This Device option to run tests.
Using third-party apps
There are several third-party apps that automatically scans the device hardware to check for any issues. There are several apps available such as Cashify Diagnose, CPU-Z, Ampere, AccuBattery, etc.
These apps scan the device and present complete details of device hardware condition at the moment.
Do note that these are third-party apps. So download at your own risk.
Using secret code
Most Android devices offer the ability to check battery health using a secret code, something similar to check account balance.
To check battery health via secret code, dial *#*#4636#*#* and choose Battery Information.
This secret code also works on select Android smartphones and may or may not work for you.
