Microsoft recently extended Android app support for Windows 11 to five more regions and the US. Unfortunately, the list of new regions does not include India. So, if you have been waiting for the feature to arrive on your Windows 11 running laptop or PC, you might have to wait a little longer to officially receive the support.
However, there’s a walkaround which allows users to enable the Windows Subsystem for Android on any Windows 11 device without installing Windows Insider Preview. Wondering how? Here’s our step-by-step guide:

Windows 11 currently have a limited number of supported Android apps and Amazon App Store is currently the prime source for Android apps on Windows 11 it now has around 1,000 apps curated for Windows devices.
Pre-requisites:
- WSA PacMan tool
- Windows 11 device running the latest build
- Working internet connection
Installing Android apps on Windows 11: Step-by-step guide
For the entire process to work, you’ll need a couple of files and tools. For starters, you’ll need to download the WSA PacMan tool. It’s an open-source project which allows users to download and install Android apps on Windows 11. In addition to that, you’ll require Windows Subsystem for Android files and enable virtualisation support for the system.
Enable Virtual Machine Platform and Windows HypervisorPlatform
First, you need to enable two features in Windows 11 — Virtual Machine Platform and Windows HypervisorPlatform. To enable them, click on Start and type ‘Turn Windows features on or off and press enter. Look for both the options, enable them and restart your computer.
Download and install Windows Subsystem for Android
Download Windows Subsystem for Android with Amazon App Store. Once downloaded, right-click on the Windows button and click on Windows Terminal (Admin). Here type ‘add-appxpackage -Path “enter the path of the download package including package name”. Hit enter to start the installation process.
Download the WSA-PacMan tool from GitHub
Search for the app and download it on your Windows 11 PC. Install and run the app. It will then ask you to enable Windows Subsystem for Android. Here you will need to follow to instructions to enable it.
Once all the above-mentioned steps are complete, your Windows 11 PC is ready to run Android apps. You can either install Amazon AppStore or download app’s apk and install the app using the WSA PacMan tool.
