How to enable dark theme in Microsoft Excel
Dark mode themes are now everywhere. Almost every major app now supports dark theme and Microsoft Excel is not behind. All apps under the Microsoft Office suite come with dark mode support. The dark colour scheme is not only easy on the eyes but also highlights the text which makes it easier to read. If you wish to enable dark theme on Microsoft Excel, you can follow these steps:
Open Microsoft Excel on your PC.
From the ribbon at the top of the page, click on the File option at the left corner.
Click on the Account option at the bottom left corner.
Open Office Theme dropdown.
Click on the theme that you want to use. The dropdown will show you two options – Dark Gray and Black.
Once you change the theme of Microsoft Excel, the colour of the ribbon, quick access toolbar, and others will also change as per your choice of theme. However, changing the theme won’t change the colour of the spreadsheet itself and the app does not have the option to do so. But there’s a trick that can help to change the spreadsheet colour. To know how to do so, you can follow these steps:
Click on the Page Layout option in the ribbon at the top of the page.
Click on the Search Binge box in the Insert Pictures dialog box.
Search for ‘solid black’ or ‘solid grey’ as per your theme.
Select the background image and click on Insert.
Now, you will be able to see the new colour in your spreadsheet but you may also have to change your font colour as it won’t be easy to read black font on a dark background. You can change the colour of the font though the Font section in the Home tab.
