Microsoft has started rolling out the stable version of Windows 11 to all compatible devices from October 5. The new operating system will be available at no cost to all eligible users. Known as software 11, the new operating system from Microsoft works with any device sporting a 1 GHz 64-bit processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, UEFI, DirectX12, or WDDM 2.0 graphics card, and 9 inch 720p screen.
This article will describe how to enable or disable the dark mode on a Windows 11 laptop or PC. All of your onscreen content can be turned dark or light for easier viewing.

How to enable dark mode on Windows 11 laptop/PC
Light mode is enabled by default in Windows 11. If you intend to use your laptop/PC in a dark environment, enable the dark mode if you work in a bright environment. Follow these steps to get it done:
1. On the Windows 11 Desktop, right-click and choose Personalize option from the list.
2. You will be taken to the Personalization section of System Settings.
3. Select ‘Colors’ from the Personalisation menu on the left.
4. Click on ‘Choose your mode’ to display a drop-down menu and select the Dark option.
6. After some processing, the system colors will change from light to dark
How to disable dark mode on Windows 11
Dark mode can be tailored with Accent color, transparency effects, and Contrast themes, but switching back to Light mode is also an option if you don’t like it.
- To disable dark mode on Windows 11, go to the Settings page again
- From the ‘Choose your mode’ menu, choose ‘Light.’
- The system will switch from dark to light mode after a few seconds
- You can then close the Settings window

Windows 11 also offers a ‘Custom’ mode in addition to dark and light modes. Windows and the app can each have a different color scheme. It is possible to choose dark for Windows and light for apps, or vice versa.
You can also disable/enable the dark mode directly from the Personalisation tab in Windows 11. To do so, you would need to select “Windows (Light)/Windows (Dark)” from the menu.
