How to get transcript of YouTube video on Android smartphone
YouTube has added video transcription support for Android users. Till now, the feature was only available for YouTube desktop users. Video transcriptions feature enables users to view the complete transcription of any video right on the app. With the new feature, users can navigate through the video transcript by scrolling through the Transcript window. They can also jump right to a specific timestamp with the new feature.
However, the feature on the YouTube app doesn’t allow users to search through the transcript currently. To know how to get a transcript of a YouTube video on an Android smartphone, you can follow these steps:
Open the YouTube app on your Android smartphone.
Play the video for which you want to see the transcription.
Click on the down arrow next to the video title to see the description.
Tap on the Show Transcript option.
It is worth noting that the feature also allows you to see transcriptions in another language if available. The new feature came the same week popular third-party alternative YouTube Vanced was discontinued. The app was suspended after a legal threat from Google. Google had reportedly sent the Vanced owners a cease and desist letter recently. The letter, according to The Verge report, forced the developers to stop distributing and developing the app.
