Covid-19 vaccination programme for children aged 15-18 years will begin from January 3 in the country. However, registrations for the same have started on the government’s CoWin portal starting today. The intended citizens in the 15-18 years age group can register for their vaccine slots online via cowin.gov.in.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced that only doses of Bharat Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine – Covaxin will be administered to the children in the 15-18 years age group. “Both walk-in and online registration (through CoWIN) facilities will be made available for children aged 15-18 years,” the ministry added.
Vaccination protocols that are previously established will also be followed for the 15-18 years age group. Beneficiaries will be required to wait for half an hour after receiving the vaccination shot. This is to ensure that they are monitored for the adverse events following immunization (AEFI). Also, the children will be eligible for the second dose only after 28 days.
Here’s how to book vaccination slot using CoWin website
Look for ‘Vaccination for Children’ and click on ‘Book your Slot’
Enter your mobile number. An OTP will be sent to your mobile number for verification.
Enter the OTP received on your mobile and click on ‘Verify and proceed’.
You will be automatically redirected to the vaccine registration page. If you have already registered on the website, you will see a page listing members already added. Here, click on ‘Add member’.
Now, enter your Photo ID proof, Photo ID number, name, gender and year of birth.
Now, click on ‘Register’
Choose your preferred vaccination centre by entering your PIN code. Choose the date and time of your convenience and click on ‘Confirm’.
