How to set up new Face ID with mask feature for Apple iPhones

Apple has started to roll out the iOS 15.4 update for eligible iPhone users. The update comes with a few notable features. One of the features that users have been waiting for is the Face ID with mask feature. As the name suggests, the new Face ID feature allows users to unlock their iPhones with a mask on. With the new update, when you try to unlock your iPhone through Face ID with a mask on, you will be prompted to ‘Look Down’ to unlock your smartphone. The prompt will only appear if you are holding your iPhone lower than eye level.

When the feature is enabled, the iPhone verifies your identity through your eyes. Although the new iOS update is available for eligible iPhone models, the Face ID with mask feature is only available for Apple iPhone 13 series and Apple iPhone 12 series. To know how to use this feature, you can follow these steps below:

1.

Open Settings app on your Apple iPhone.

2.

Scroll down and tap on the Face ID & Passcode option.

3.

Turn on the toggle next to Face ID with mask option.

4.

If you wear glasses, tap on the Add Glasses.

5.

Wear the glasses that you often use, and tap on Continue at the bottom of the screen. The phone will scan your face once again to make it easy for you to authenticate while you are wearing glasses and a mask.

Apart from this, Apple iPhone users will get 37 new emoji and 75 skin tone additions with this iOS update. The new additions to the emoji panel include heart hands, person with crown, low-battery, biting lip, pointing finger, handshake and many more. The new emoji will be available in the emoji picker section on iPhone and iPad automatically after the update.
