How to use AirPods Pro with an Android/non-Apple device

Apple products like the Apple Watch, are compatible exclusively with iPhones. The company, on the other hand, has adopted a different strategy with its earbuds. Apple has designed its audio products to work with any device that has a Bluetooth connection. If you use an iPhone with your AirPods Pro, you will be able to access some of the more advanced features, such as — dynamic head tracking, spatial audio, and easy device switching. However, you can still use these devices for their core purposes with non-Apple devices.
Since AirPods and AirPods Pro are Bluetooth-enabled earbuds, you can connect and use them with any Android phone. You can also pair your AirPods with the Android tablets and watches as well.
Apple earbuds that support Android compatibility
  • AirPods (all generations)
  • AirPods Pro (all generations)
  • AirPods Max

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you set up your AirPods Pro with an Android device.

  1. Go to Bluetooth Settings on your Android device.
  2. Enable Bluetooth and tap on the Pair a new device option.
  3. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the AirPods case for about five seconds, or until the status light flashes white, while your AirPods are in the charging case.
  4. Now, your AirPods Pro will appear in the Available Devices section of your Android device. Tap on its name, and then select the Pair option from the menu displayed.
  5. After pairing, you can also give AirPods Pro access to your contacts and call history.

Limitations
Apple’s earbuds are not officially Android compatible, and users aren’t allowed to control advanced features like ANC and Transparency Mode or check their battery level. Additionally, you cannot activate Siri on an Android device or switch to Google Assistant because there is no Siri for Android.
