Huawei has launched its first Bluetooth speaker, the Sound Joy, in the UAE. It’s a stylish and compact speaker that can be used in the living room or on the go. Made in partnership with French audio powerhouse, Devialet, the Sound Joy boasts Devialet’s 4-unit punchy sound for crisp audio and minimal distortion.
This isn’t the first time Huawei has joined forces with Devialet, the two previously came together to design the Huawei Sound X, which was a larger and upmarket wireless speaker.
The Huawei Sound Joy is lighter and more portable than the Sound X with a rugged outer design that’s tougher and durable. It features an anti-slip surface and is IP67 rated for dust & water resistance making it perfect for outdoor use. Much like Sonos Roam, you can buy two Sound Joy speakers and pair them together with Huawei’s Shake Stereo Link Up feature.
The audio tech inside looks great as well. The Sound Joy adopts a two-way speaker system to deliver loud high-frequencies and deep bass. There’s one tweeter and one speaker unit dedicated for mids and lows that help produce clearer audio. The iconic Push-Push passive radiator design uses two diaphragms placed back to back to offset sound waves for a distortion-free listening experience. Huawei claims that despite the Sound Joy’s small sound cavity, the speaker can go as loud as 79dBA at 2m distance.
Battery wise, the Sound Joy packs a sizable 8,800mAh battery that gives up to 26 hours of playback time on a single charge. It supports 40W fast charging that lets you power up the battery fairly quickly. With a 10-minute charge, the speaker can play for another hour and charging from zero to full takes about three hours.
There’s also a few smart features packed into the Sound Joy like one-touch transfer to instantly transfer media via NFC, access to a voice assistant, automatic discovery and Huawei watch control, though you’ll need an Android phone or a Huawei phone to make the most out of these smart features.
The Huawei Sound Joy comes in a Spruce Green color or Obsidian Black. It’s now available to buy from Huawei’s online store and experience stores across the UAE. Pricing is set at AED 599 and you get an original Huawei backpack worth AED 149 with every purchase.
