Instagram begins testing chronological feeds for select users – Times of India

Instagram is testing a new feature that allows people to choose what is shown in their feeds. With the feature, users will be able to sort posts by new. They will also be able to choose posts from their non-favourite accounts.
The announcement was made by Instagram head Adam Mosseri via a post on Twitter. It is currently under testing and is available to a select few users only.
In the video shared with the tweet, he says that Instagram will have three different feeds in the future. One of them will be called Home which is the Instagram experience we see today. Under this, the content is shown to a reader depending on his interests.

Second feed will be called Favourites which will be a sort of subset of the Home feed. It will list posts from accounts that are marked as favourite. This can include the account of a favourite creator or a friend. The third feed will be called Following which will be a chronological list of posts only from the accounts an Instagram user follows. “We think it’s important that you can get to a chronological feed, if you’re interested quickly and see the latest that has been posted by the accounts that you follow,” he says in the video.
The feature is already available to some users. Mosseri says that more users will be added to the test in the coming weeks. The feature will have a full rollout by the first half of 2022.
